2008 ARCHIVED COMMUNITY NEWS

SEPTEMBER 30, 2008: ELECTIONS COMPLETE
Thanks to all who came to last night's Annual Meeting where elections were held for 3 open positions for the Board of Directors.  Fortunately, we had just enough attendees and proxies to declare a quorum, so the results of the election are valid.  Congratulations to new Board Members Scott Windish and Paul Young, and to incumbent Rob Rohloff who will continue to serve on the Board.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2008:
BOARD NOMINATIONS CLOSED; 4 NOMINEES IDENTIFIED
Nominations are now closed for the 2008 election to the Shadowbrook at Town Center Community Association Board of Directors.  This year, we have 4 nominees for 3 open positions on the Board: Robert Matelski, Rob Rohloff, Scott Windish, and Paul Young.  2 positions were not up for re-election this year, and Eleanor Love and Warner Coffman will continue to serve on the Board in those seats.  Kathy Hedrick chose not to run again due to other commitments; the Board wants to sincerely thank Kathy for her contribution and guidance.  She will be missed!

Please turn to the Election Page for bio's on the candidates and for further information about the elections coming up on September 29th!

SEPTEMBER 10, 2008:
CITY COUNCILMEMBER TO ATTEND TOWN HALL MEETING
Suwanee City Councilmember Dan Foster will be on-hand at our next Town Hall Meeting on Monday, September 15 to talk to residents about our views and opinions on the services being provided by the City of Suwanee.  There will also be a "question and answer" session on processes and procedures that affect us.  Don't miss this terrific opportunity to speak one-on-one to a city representative!

SEPTEMBER 16 UPDATE: Dan regrets not being able to make the meeting due to last-minute business travel with his day job.  We will reschedule with him and have him attend our next Town Hall meeting in Q4.  More information will be forthcoming.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2008:

NEW NEWSLETTER
In July, you will be receiving the first issue of our new newsletter.  We have partnered with a local company to handle the formatting, publishing, and distribution of the newsletter using a model that is completely advertising-funded.  This approach will allow us to distribute our community newsletter up to four times per year at no cost to the association!

APRIL 19, 2008: P.A.C.T. OFFICER CHANGE
We have a new P.A.C.T. officer representing Shadowbrook, Officer Fred Schumacher.  Ofc. Schumacher will be at the next board meeting on Monday, April 21 to introduce himself to the Board and the neighborhood.  Stop by and say hello to Ofc. Schumacher!

MARCH 14, 2008: SIGN BANDIT IDENTIFIED!
The "sign bandit" has been identified.  The person responsible for stealing the signs made his identity known to the the Board through another resident.

MARCH 10, 2008:
TOWN HALL MEETING A "QUICK" SUCCESS
Thanks to all who attended tonight's first town hall meeting.  Unfortunately, the meeting that was originally scheduled for 2 hours had to be completed in 30 minutes!  This was due to a library mistake in double-booking the room.  We apologize for the inconvenience to those who attended, but thank you so much for your attendance and participation!  We appreciate those who care enough to be involved!

MARCH 10, 2008: MONTHLY BOARD MEETING DATE CHANGE
Future Board meetings occur on the third Monday of each month rather than the second Monday as previous meetings.  We ran into a scheduling conflict with another group who was vying for the same time.  As always, please refer to the website for actual dates, as we sometimes have to change the schedule from time to time due to conflicts.

MARCH 6, 2008: ASSOCIATION SIGNS STOLEN!
Our resident criminal "sign thief" is at it again.  The Board of Directors put signs up in the community on Monday to advertise the upcoming Town Hall meeting on March 10.  By Thursday, the signs were stolen.  This is the 5th sign that we know of that has been damaged or stolen.  The Board asks all neighbors to be vigilant in looking out for acts like these.  The signs are not inexpensive to replace, so crime like this affects us all.

JANUARY 11, 2008:
2008 TOWNHOME ASSESSMENT REDUCED!
Based on feedback received during the December 19 budget meeting, the Board  decided to lower the 2008 assessments to $115 by reducing the amount we will put into the townhome reserve fund this year.   On January 11, GW sent out an amended 2008 budget and letter, reflecting the lower  assessment of $115 per month, which is effective starting on the March 1, 2008 payment.  Visit the Financials page for more details.
