SEPTEMBER 16, 2008: ACCEPTING ENROLLMENT FOR CITIZEN'S POLICE ACADEMY! The Suwanee Police Department is offering this class in order to strengthen the bond of friendship and cooperation between our citizens and our police department.. This will also help our citizens gain a better understanding of the risks and responsibilities of our officers. Some of the classes included in this training will be, Crime Scene Processing, Traffic Stops, Responding to Burglary calls, Crime Prevention and Narcotics Identification, Motor Vehicle Stops. MARCH 19, 2008: SUWANEE RELEASES DRAFT OF THEIR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN The City of Suwanee will soon complete its 2030 Comprehensive Plan process. A draft of the plan is available for public review and there are at least two opportunities for citizen feedback: A Task Force/Work Group meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 27 and a public hearing on April 22. MARCH 6, 2008: SUWANEE IMPOSES RESIDENTIAL MORATORIUM Suwanee City Council members approved Feb. 29 a short-term moratorium for large developments in residential areas in anticipation of the completion of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. Read more here. | |

DECEMBER 9, 2007: GWINNETT BULLDOGS REACH STATE FINALS! Let's all cheer for our hometown North Gwinnett High School Bulldogs football team, who won their semi-finals game yesterday by dominating Walton 31-7 at the Georgia Dome. The Bulldogs will take on Lowndes next Saturday in the AAAAA State Finals. This is the first time in its 50 year history that North was bound for the state title. GO BULLDOGS!
We have several students in the neighborhood that are on the team. If you are a player on the NGHS football team or have a child that is on the team, let us know so we can give them some well-deserved recognition! Way to go, guys! | |
DECEMBER 5, 2007: GWINNETT PUBLIC SCHOOLS REDISTRICTING Over the next two years, Gwinnett County Public Schools will open 12 new schools and three replacement schools. Since October, the Board of Education has gathered feedback on proposed attendance lines for those new schools. These maps represent the final recommendations of the GCPS Planning Department. | |
DECEMBER 1, 2007: OPUS DEVELOPMENT STARTED Opus South Corporation has begun grading on its 148-acre Terraces at Suwanee Gateway project. At more than 1 million square feet of commercial and office space, the planned mixed-use development, which extends along Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road from just east of Satellite Boulevard to the interstate, is the largest single project in Suwanee’s history.
By the beginning of the new year construction of a Lowe’s, the apartment component, the first of three multistory office buildings, and a new roadway will be underway. | |
